Paris...Where Did You Go?

Paris seems a millions miles away.  We were just there 5 weeks ago, but it seems like it was five years ago.  I looked at a few of our videos today, and decided to share one quick one with you.

Paris is a romantic city, and I wanted to leave our mark there during this trip, because for many reasons, I think it might be awhile before we return.  I had read there are 2 bridges that "lovers" put a lock on, as a symbol of their love, and a symbol that they will return to Paris someday.  I hid the lock in my luggage, and explained this to Scott when we got there.  He went along with it... but I could tell his heart wasn't in it... until we got to the bridge.

I think he enjoyed doing it. You should have seen us picking out the perfect spot. As you can see, many people don't know about the locks, and they tie whatever they have on hand on the bridge. I'm not sure how long the locks stay before they are cut off, but we did it!

No news on Scott yet.  Waiting on more tests, and now a second opinion.  All is as it's always been... no symptoms, just an invisible enemy wreaking havoc in our lives.

I will share my thoughts and feelings with you whenever I figure out what they are :).

Have a blessed day!

Love this Teri...a very special moment in your heart~
My husband's best friend was diagnosed with prostate cancer at 45...not married, no children...within a year he married and fathered a child, and in Feb this year came here to Seattle to have his prostate removed...he is doing very well...I know there are so many stories, but I wanted to share ours to give hope...thinking of you~

Teri,
I am so, so happy to hear from you again. I had heard about the "lock" bridge, but I have never seen it, so I'm so glad you shared it with us.
Hoping to read someday soon that you got some good news about Scott. Many people care about you and are praying, as I just have for you both.

What a wonderful post Teri! I have heard of the bridge but didn't know about it when I was there. Loved seeing the red lock that you picked out, the whole idea is so romantic!

Praying for you, Scott and your family! Warm hugs and much love sent to you! xxoo :)

That red lock is there to stay! (to mess with a line from one of my favorite song lines from American in Paris, "Our Love is Here to Stay".) Blessings to you both....Prayers to ward off that invisible enemy. Thanks for the glimpse of the bridge and taking us along. Much love to you and your family.

It's so lovely to hear from you again Teri! Did you go to the bridge near Notre Dame? Pont des Arts? We saw that this summer - I hadn't heard about the custom before, but it's really sweet. Best wishes to you both.

Yes...it was the bridge near Notre Dame. The red lock certainly stood out for two reasons...the color (my daughter was with me when I bought it and she begged me to get purple...lol) and the fact that it was a combination lock instead of a lock and key. It was the only combination lock I saw on the bridge...but now to think if I had gotten a lock and key, I could be wearing the key around my neck! That could be cool.

I will have to share my recent Tiffany moment with you all soon...

Thanks Dawn for the encouraging story!

Teri, maybe you could have the lock's combination engraved on a small charm like a flat disc such as a heart, or something else.

The waiting must be hard. You, Scott, your family are in my prayers. Try to enjoy each day.

What a great idea Mya...except I threw away the tiny piece of paper with the combination printed on it in Paris...never thought I'd need it.
Funny...I read yesterday that they cut the locks off the other bridge in May of this year. It's a major bridge that is often photographed and some French thought the locks looked tacky. The bridge we put our lock on is tiny and a bit out off the beaten path...so I hope our lock is safe until we go return ;)

I know all too well how hard dealing with a loved one facing cancer can be. My thoughts go out to you and I pray you find the strength to face each new day and the obstacles it may bring. I've very happy you have such wonderful memories of Paris to look back on for the rough moments you may face ahead. I always enjoy visiting your blog and seeing the PARIS pics and commentary. It takes me right back to our trip.......

I am so happy to see your recent post! What a lovely idea to snap that lock on the bridge to symbolize your love. Now I want to do it too!

Warm wishes to you and Scott, and prayers for his full recovery.
