Just checked my calendar... only 44 days until I get back to where I belong...
For the past few years, we've gone to Paris every fall. We are hopelessly, endlessly, hooked on it. Each time we go, we treat it as if it's our last time, because truly, who knows what tomorrow brings. Each trip has had a "feel" to it, a theme, if you will. We don't plan the theme before we go, the trip just takes shape somehow.
Here are the themes we've experienced so far...
Trip One... The total and complete nonstop scurrying from one place to another year!
Trip Two... The cold year... the Louis Vuitton year...
Le Grand Colbert year.
Trip Three... The Marseilles year... the Sacre Coeur year... the harp year.
Trip Four... The London year...The settling in year...
Trip Three... The Marseilles year... the Sacre Coeur year... the harp year.

It's funny... when we are speaking of something, we'll say, "You know, we went to that restaurant during the "cold" year." We both instantly know that was 2007.
I haven't a clue what Trip Five will bring... that's the fun of Paris. No matter how much we plan and plot, it all falls apart when we get there. I keep thinking... get out the guide book, make a plan to see absolutely anything you haven't seen yet.
Then I pause... no need. The experience is what counts, the living, the melding.

I guess we all know I'm hooked on purses. This year, I only have one souvenir I really want, and it's certainly purse related.
I saw this shop one day right off St. Germain. I think I can find it again... maybe.
I desire a simple French Market Bag...
See them? Stacked in the middle, as if they are nothing special?
As Rachel Zoe says... "I die."
And if I ever have the opportunity to live in Paris, I am SO getting one of those old lady rolling bags... see the lime green and the blue one? They are the most practical thing I see on the streets. I keep trying to think of a use for one in my life here, and I just can't think of one. I certainly don't haul my groceries home on foot.
Anyone have any ideas??? I would love an excuse to get one. Scott will looooooove hauling it home on the plane :)

hmmm...do you go to your local farmers market and need to bring home more than the french market bag will hold?? I am loving the striped bag with the leather corners hanging on the rack!!!
That's a thought Dawn... using it for produce... but I usually don't buy that much at one time.
Just noticed those string bags hanging at the top... as a Florida girl who just had to go outside to dump sand out of my beach bag... I'm thinking those string bags might work great for the beach.
Maybe I'll get the large rolling bag to carry home all the other bags I can't live without!
I used to use those rolling carts when I went to the Flea Markets & Farmers Markets...they are wonderful!
I want one of those French Market bags too, they are fabulous..we are leaving for London tonight and then heading to Paris for a day or so next week - thanks for the heads up!
P.S. I agree with you on not planning too much. Our best trips have been when we didn't plan things, we just happened upon them.

to the LA musician's institute this fall.
Finding a French market bag should not be so hard to accomplish and certainly easy on the pocketbook. Hope you find all sorts of other goodies to pack inside it.

I have spent the morning looking at many of your posts--and sharing many of them with my fiance! We were only in Paris for 4 days--but we enjoyed it so much and have vowed to go back as often as we can throughout our married life! I look forward to following your blog and learning more about your PARIS adventures! I have my own blog, but I started a special PARIS one when we traveled there--because my aunt was sick and it would be a way for her to follow along with our trip (along with the rest of our friends and fam.) Hahaha I think those old lady rolling bags are practical, too, but I can't bring myself to buy and use one! I adore Paris, too, and I think it's so sweet that you go back every year! I just got back from a short holiday along the Cote d'Azur... I have some photos of St Tropez on my blog (and more to follow), if you're interested! I look forward to reading about your trip five!
Hi Teri, Patricia in Budapest here - you sent me a postcard from Paris last year. Well, we just got back from our trip there - remember I wrote and asked you about apartment websites? We couldn't afford a really fancy one, but the location was perfect - in the 5th arrondissement, between Place Monge and the Pantheon. The first two nights our boys were with us, then we delivered them to French camp on the edge of the city (they are still there, back on Satruday). We had a wonderful week, walked a lot, ate well and took lots of photos. I hope that your trip in September is just as wonderful!!!
