Shopping In Paris

If I could go Christmas Shopping, anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would it be?

Seriously, do I even need to tell you?

Of course it would be Paris...

We always visit Paris in the fall (cheapest airfare). Our first trip was in mid-October, and the weather was fabulous! Really balmy and warm in the day, cool at night. We thought this was normal for Paris. The following year, we went in November...what difference would 2 weeks make? A LOT. We froze!! We found out later, that particular Oct. was unseasonable warm, and my guess is, the following Nov. was unseasonably cold. I will tell you, the cold in Paris is damp and when the wind blows down those streets, it chills you to the bone. Cappuccino for 6plus tip became the order of the day. That is when we decided we couldn't live in Paris year round. Our thin FL blood will not take it.

We spent lots of time in museums. We even visited Victor Hugo's house, just to get in out of the cold! We also did a lot of window shopping. I'm not a shopper (buyer) but I am really glad we went in this store to get warm!

I think we are in Galleries Lafayette, across from the Opera House.

Here... take a look...

Had to try the Chanel...it's my favorite...

It was so festive and beautiful... and okay, due to the extreme temperatures, I bought 2 casual coats. One was bought out of necessity, and the other, well, it was just too cute!

Great Memories!

Teri -

That building is so stunning and quite frankly my jaw dropped when I looked up and saw the ceiling. Speaking of Chanel...can you email me? My address is on my sidebar. I have something for you :)

How beautiful! I can so relate with what you are saying. We live in a very HOT state in Australia and when we were in Paris last Christmas we froze! Apparently it was the coldest winter in years. It was still magical in every way though...I wish I was there now too...

Best wishes, Natasha.

I know it's going to be cold...I know it's going to probably be rainy...I know I won't get to see and do everything I want to do, BUT, we are going to spend two days in Paris next week just soaking up the spirit of Christmas in Paris.

Be still my heart....

Natasha,
Australia! WOW. I guess I didn't realize you were from there. Just visited your blog again... so cool!

Debi,
Oh how fabulous... so happy for you. Bundle up, TAKE PICTURES, and have a blast!

You know, being cold in Paris with your sweetheart, has it's own advantages..."Oh honey, will you keep me warm?"

When we were there in Nov, they were putting the lights up on the Champs Elysees, but they weren't turned on. I would love to see that! I'm putting it on my Bucket List.

Have a sweet, precious time!

Bonjour Teri!
Merci for stopping by and following my blog. I've enjoyed reading all about your Paris adventures - there really is no other city quite like Paris.
I lived in Florida for 32 years and my first winter here in Paris was a bit chilly to put it mildly -what they say about thin blood is true.
Sorry you missed the lights on the CHamps Elysées - I'll try to get some more and post them for you - (that is if I can keep my camera still).

Paris is a beautiful city, but with Christmas lights, it must be magical! I also took pictures inside Galleries Lafayette. Isn't that domed ceiling incredible, and the balconies are beautiful.
